巴特尔克里克 organizations show support for city students through two 与GVSU的合作

Support for 巴特尔克里克 high school students to attend 博天堂官方 without financial burden was evident in that city this week as new pipeline scholars were introduced and an organization announced an 创新奖学金计划.

Twelve seniors from 巴特尔克里克 Central High School were welcomed as 在5月16日的午餐会上. 通过BCPS健康和 Teacher Education Pipeline Scholarship program, the students will receive funding to cover tuition, fees, housing and dining, plus a 八学期书费津贴.

On May 17, the Kellogg Company announced a scholarship program for graduating 巴特尔克里克 Central High School seniors that will provide a pathway to a full-time role in finance at Kellogg, after graduating from either 博天堂官方 or Siena Heights University. 

BCPS Health and Teacher Education Pipeline Scholarship program

The program stems from a 2019 partnership among 博天堂官方, Battle 克里克公立学校和W.K. 凯洛格基金会. 博天堂官方 收到了15美元.5 million grant from WKKF to partner with BCPS and 改革该地区的教育. 奖学金资助 program comes from WKKF as additional support for students.

At the luncheon, 亚·迪亚兹, director of the office of the president for WKKF, said the foundation's investment in students is rooted in its mission of building leaders through education.

"Our vision is for you to go to 博天堂官方 with this scholarship and maybe come back to 巴特尔克里克 and be part of the change that is happening right here," Diaz said.

Lalro Mawii will be a first-year student in the Fall semester. Mawii said she is interested in studying radiation therapy. “我很 感谢这次机会，”她说. “它允许我们这样做 pursue our goals without any financial burden."

The cohort of 12 students will join 16 other BCPS pipeline scholars 在校园.

In partnership with 巴特尔克里克 Public Schools, Kellogg Community College, Siena Heights and 博天堂官方, the Kellogg Company program aims to promote education and advancement in 巴特尔克里克, while also exposing local students to a career in finance. 该计划是开放给 巴特尔克里克 Central High School seniors enrolled in the business pathway program at the BCCHS Career Academy of Business, Engineering 与工业技术.

Up to three 凯洛格金融学者 will receive a two-year scholarship to study business management or accounting at Kellogg 社区学院. After earning an associate degree, the scholars will be eligible for a paid summer internship at Kellogg, followed by a scholarship to either 博天堂官方 or Siena Heights University to complete their bachelor's degree in business management. 

Diana Lawson, dean of the 塞德曼商学院, said the college is pleased to be a partner in this innovative program.

"The program opens access to education and matches our mission, which is grounded in community collaborations and innovative 学习方法，”劳森说.
